This will be a great meeting for new Java developers, students and those coming to Java from .NET who want to get an overview of Java’s place in enterprise software development. This is also a good opportunity for seasoned veterans who want to see some of the latest J2EE tools and frameworks in action. And as always, it’s a fun time with some networking opportunities and free food!

We will begin by covering the following introductory topics:

  • Purpose of J2EE
  • J2EE Technology Landscape
  • Basic MVC the J2EE Way
  • Sample Program

We will then move into some more advanced subjects by looking at the powerful J2EE framework called Grails. This will include a demo where we will develop a complete web application leveraging the modern integrated development environment IntelliJ IDEA.
